New user, General questions how NextDNS works

Hello, glad i joat bought this yesterday and seems like im honna install it everywhere.

Questions:

1- Do repeated block filters are joined together? Because energized Xtreme edition contains alot of then, including 1hosts pro that i rather choose 1hosts Xtra ( including many others) and energized is is not updated for more that a year.

1.2 My guess the more filters the slower entering websites?

2 - on android can i install it just on my "Private DNS" or is there a point putting the dns on the browser too?

3- i think whenever there is a Dns disconnection, the internet keeps working ulfiltered for a couple seconds, is that right?

3- what is the advantage of installing a CA?

4- my guess is i can install it on my router and never worry about it (but my friends aint gonna be happy without instagram 😎)

5 - Thank you alot for the peace of mind without many or no trackers at all for a little sum of money.

There's no speed penalty on having duplicates or multiple filters, resolving speed should be identical if other factors are equal (ie, the domain nameserver itself is functioning, etc)

You can just use Private DNS on its own, but if you add a DNS setting on the browser and include the identifier string, you can then tell on the log whether a query is coming from a generic app on the Android or from a specific browser, even use different filtering profile.

The behavior on DNS disconnection varies, some OS revert to router setting, some will simply not connect,

You only need to install the CA if you want the block page to still work with HTTPS sites.

Even if installed on the router, remember that browser and OS level settings can ignore it, ie, if your router is set to NextDNS but the Android Private DNS setting or browser DoH setting is set to Cloudflare, then queries will be sent to Cloudflare and filtering on NextDNS won't apply.

Since i've started the topic, i will take advantage, i see that there are problems on the forum with energized. I've activated energized blu go , that is the one that should still work, but i dont see anything being done in the logs. Is the database automaticaly uploaded to nextdns? If that is the case i dont want to deal with the bore of those guys. If you are keeping the year old version stricly to you i guess it should not mind. Any advices for now and the next months?

Energized list are indeed dead, NextDNS automatically update the list as available, if you go to their Github repo you'll see that Blu Go no longer receive any update. Use actively updated list like OISD or Hagezi instead.
