Allowlist and Denylist

I am confused about these two, anyone can help me. If a site is added in allowlist, then it means that the rest which is not added is in denylist, or vice versa? How does it work? I add a site in a denylist and, yes, it work, but how about allowlist?

    You would use the allow list when something you want to be resolved has been blocked by one of the built in block lists.  In other words the allow list is for you to make exceptions to the preconfigured block lists.

    Oh, so if I have a lot of websites in denylist, and can't find the website to turn off or to remove, I can just add it in allowlist to make it work again?

       if it’s in your own block list list, then you should remove it from the block list.    If it’s in one of the preconfigured lists, then yes add it to your allow list.   Allow list always overrides block list regardless of its source 

      btw, NextDNS filters hosts and domains, not websites.
