Jio broadband likely blocking NextDNS

I'm reaching out to report that Jio broadband (an ISP in India) is blocking NextDNS. NextDNS website and queries don't work when I'm on Jio.

Without Jio, it's fine. With NordVPN, Cloudflare's Warp, and other VPN, NextDNS is fine.

I can try to submit diagnostics report (from NextDNS.io/diag) later today. On mobile at the moment.

dns1.nextdns.io isn't responding (from India? I think the server in Pune is down) probably why it's not working for you guys. Try dns2.nextdns.io it's fine. I don't think Jio is blocking anything here.

Gaurav Mehta Android App works fine for me too, but I need to use other VPNs throughout the day, that's why PrivateDNS was my route.
Also, did you try to ping dns1 server from any other ISP like Airtel? I tried to, but there was a similar error on Airtel as well.

And my official nextdns windows app also isn't working. Keeps saying connection failure.

Jermaine Potts I use a local ISP for wifi so I couldn't test it out with Airtel or Bsnl, etc. My local ISP resolves dns1.nextdns.io so this shouldn't be a Nextdns problem I think. But I do hope that they implement some sort of fix for this considering the size of market that Jio serves.

As for the windows app, mine works so IDK. Let's wait for Olivier Poitrey to reply.

Gaurav Yeah Airtel is dead too. Just saw a user complaining about this on Reddit.
So much for net neutrality. Hopefully Olivier Poitrey finds something to bypass this. Like you mentioned, Jio is probably the biggest ISP in India right now. Combined with Airtel, that's 90% of the market covered right there.

Update: Able to resolve the ipv4 address for dns1.nextdns.io now (tested with MTR as well). However, the ipv6 is still showing an error as per ping.nextdns.io and MTR logs. Great and quick work done by the team at NextDNS. :)

      Happy New Year!

Gaurav Still not working for me on JioFiber. Ping dns1.nextdns.io is a straight timeout. Even if the DNS is resolved somehow, it chooses servers with 180ms latency. Olivier Poitrey any information would be amazing if some fixes are applied.

Jermaine Potts there is an interconnection issue with Jio at NIXI, we had to disable this IX on our Pune PoP waiting for a resolution. This lead to high ping on dns1. We are working on improving routing on other non Indian PoPs in the meantime. It's unclear when the Jio issue will be resolved at the moment.

Olivier Poitrey don't think it's just about Jio anymore. Even Airtel is showing error connecting to dns1.nextdns.io on ping.nextdns.io.
