Android PRIVATE DNS Setting, using DOH ?

Hi.

I have NextDNS running via my router/pihole and its working great. I use HTTPS/DOH so my DNS queries are encrypted.

For my Android phone (when not on my home WiFI), I have got into SETTINGS > NETWORK & INTERNET>ADVANCED>PRIVATE DNS

and entered my Config code.

Will this use HTTPS/DOH for my DNS queries, or do I need to change another setting on my phone?

Or is it best just to use the NEXTDNS APP to ensure DOH ?

The private DNS option uses DoT on Android but it's still encrypted just as it is with DoH on your home network.

The only possible issue could be that if your ISP/Carrier is silly they can block the port used for DoT but otherwise it's same same for the most part.

I use Private DNS and I'd advise the same as it's a part of the OS and weird OS related issues such as aggressive battery optimizations won't hurt your experience.
