Fallback in Windows app

Does the Windows app have a fallback mechanism in case where the NextDNS servers are unreachable? I would like to install it on student's laptops - without task bar icon - but I want to be sure that, if at any point the NextDNS servers are unreachable, students are not locked out of internet. (Uninstalling the app will require admin rights, for which internet connection is needed as well.)
