add a DNS search domain

using NextDNS even when connected to our Corp VPN, and added the half dozen internal DNS entries for some intranet services and that works (mostly) fine, but the macOS client doesn't let me also specific the DNS local search domain so I have to manually add that to the WiFi connection.

is there any way the macOS client (or the Apple profile) can be extended to include the search domain?
