"Teleport to other countries"

Please make it possible to change external ip so that you can bypass regional restrictions or blocking from the provider. I saw "controld" from competitors, they have this feature very well done, not vpn, but for normal access it is no longer necessary.

Apparently they indeed offer that: https://controld.com/teleport

But how can a DNS service do that?

A DNS service (like NextDNS) “only” translates domain names to IP addresses.

Unfortunately, I don't know how they do it, but it works. The only thing the site says:

"Only works for Internet traffic that uses DNS - direct IP connections will go direct.
May break protocols that don't support SNI.
ECH support is on the horizon, but until then, SNI is cleartext and so your ISP or network administrator can still see what sites you visit if they perform Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) on the network."

    What is SmartDNS?

Although this wouldn’t be technically correct, you can think of SmartDNS as basically a dedicated, high-tech proxy server. But where proxies (and VPNs, for that matter) redirect the entirety of a user’s internet traffic via their servers, SmartDNS forwards only specifically determined traffic. All the other data is left to travel through the web as it would normally. Also, it changes your device’s DNS, not IP address.

servilo It is interesting is it possible to make SmartDNS in NextDNS or is it technically difficult? 🤔

I guess that to offer this product you need DNS and VPN infrastructure, but I'm not sure about this.
Both businesses, which sell this product (keepsolid.com and controld.com) have access to DNS servers and VPN infrastructure. Controld and Windscribe (VPN and Ad Block) have the same owners.

An interesting thing is that DNSFilter announced a few days ago the acquisition of Guardian, a leading Firewall + VPN technology platform.

I use SmartDNSProxy for this at the moment - https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/ - and it works really well for a lot of services (some it doesn't really help for) but of course it's an either/or situation ... if NextDNS could add this feature, it would be a no-brainer to switch

I agree. I wouldn’t leave NextDNS if they added smartDNS geoblocking capabilities. Add a VPN while you’re at it!
