The list used to block adult content is completely outdated, NextDNS should change to OISD NSFW. All the parental control lists are outdated. Useless.

I didn’t know about that,  because the biggest problem I have now is the video chatting that became so trendy now in Sweden. Video chatting  is the new land of pedophiles .

then we should maybe move to Control-D because they have an option there you can add manually as many oisd lists as you want . I will think about moving to control-D even though I like nextdns

I can't understand why these old, unmaintained source lists are not replaced by more up-to-date ones, there are good lists on the net that would make sense:

      Adult - OISD NSFW
      Gambling - HaGeZi Gambling
      Piracy - HaGeZi Anti Piracy
      Dating - ShadowWhisperer Dating

The native tracker lists are also very old and can be replaced by current ones, such as the HaGeZi Native Tracker Lists.

Other providers such as AdGuard DNS and ControlD offer much more up-to-date services.

and @Fire Ball - first of all - nice to meet you :)

      can you please explain more?

i truly agree with you that video chats are pedophiles place and thus should be completely removed and be updated.

this is why in addition to nextdns (old, not updated) "family protection" option - you can add the updated block lists such as HaGeZi etc

so why do you think its better to leave NextDNS and go to ControlD?

i am using NextDNS since its free and for me its most easy to use

but the drawback of the not updated NextDNS list is making me nervous

i will appreciate if you can explain more

      thank you

It's nice to meet you, too 🙂 .  I just thought that i would have more options in ControlD to block all those video chatting but no i just tried today nothing there i could do ☹️ . There is no such a filter that could block video chatting sites . I think the issue with these sites is that they have such varying degrees of unsuitability. Most of these sites aren’t categorized as nudity/adult and pornography but as social network or internet communication . So leaving Nextdns and moving/finding  other providers will not solve my problem at all

        A solution:

      1) block all TLDs (blocks the whole of the web) (using the Chrome extension - it's easier, as without it's one by one)

      2) whitelist the sites you want (and their dependencies). Takes a bit of tweaking but it's a solid, independent of blocklists, solution

       Hi,

nice idea but the downside is that its browser/user account based.

if user open "guest mode" / private mode / another user / other browser - he can pass it.

i wonder why on next dns you cant block "entire internet" and then use whitelist
