As the expiry date approaches do I need to download a new certificate and when?

The signing certificate for the configuration can expire without issue. It only needs to be valid when the configuration is installed. It's just used to verify that the configuration was provided by the desired organization and not someone doing something nefarious.

Now it says not verified on both iOS and macOS!

As I mentioned, it being "not verified" doesn't matter at this time. The configuration was signed and valid at the time you downloaded and installed it. It was verified to be valid when it was installed, by you downloading it from a NextDNS website and the OS showing that signing information when you installed it.

The fact that it expired has not impacted the configuration profile that is already installed on your device in any negative way. It still operates and functions just as it did.

If it really annoys you that it says that, you can download a new profile from the NextDNS website which will be signed with a new certificate. But there is no loss of functionality simply because the original signing certificate has expired.

I did download a new one and the expiry date is 18 May 2026. It has expired.

I just downloaded a new one now and it seems to be fixed. 5 December. Thanks for the clarification!
