i'm not sure where to post. is there a reason ping.nextdns.io is pulling moscow?

    What is the problem as you see it? You don't want communications with Moscow?  That just happens to be where the anycast IP is routing for you at the moment. For further troubleshooting, follow the NextDNS diagnostic instructions and then create a new post here with a link to your unique diagnostic result.

      oh i have no problem with it, i just wonder why they would choose it. also this was taken in the uk (with a uk ip address) which is why it confused me

       Seeing as how you have other nodes responding with lower latency, I'd recommend you still do the diagnostic and report it to them. They may be able to update routes for your region and ISPs, so that the anycast IP resolves to a location closer to you to improve performance and not have to cross the border.

      oh okay i'll get around to it. i was just curious. so my isp is choosing moscow at that moment? it was done on mobile but i don't think it's possible to diagnose there, so i'll try the pc

       Yes. NextDNS may or may not be able to influence the routes as your ISP sees them. They can try, but it depends on the diagnostic data you need to provide, and then they can either update their BGP routes and or request a route improvement with peering ISPs and the upstream ISPs. No guarantees as it's often dependant on 3rd party ISPs, but at least you can provide it and they can see what can be done.
