Basic Filter Recommendations (BFR)
NextDNS gives us the option to pick as many or as little of the filters as we'd like. It's pretty nice but having a ton of choices could be a bit confusing so I wanted to make this thread about what I would personally recommend using on your setup. It's also the lists that I use personally. NextDNS team has mentioned many times that using more filters doesn't slow down your browsing speed so adding these filters shouldn't hurt but it's all about finding the right balance. As a tip, turning on too many filters doesn't slow you down but could create issues with false positives.
There are a few well known filters, here is how I would classify them personally.
Adguard and OISD. I would happily recommend anyone use both of them. They are extremely active and have very little issues when it comes to false positives. Going with purely OISD is an option as well, they mostly overlap but I would say have both of them for better reliability.
There is also Lightswitch05 in my personal testing Lightswitch05 seems to be just like the other 2 extremely solid and it also blocks some annoying cookie popups / GDPR stuff that isn't blocked by the other 2 but this is a personal preference matter so it's your choice.
Lastly there is 1HostPro, it blocks things like graph.facebook.com / brakes the official Facebook app. The reason being that the same domain also serves mobile banner and video ads. It does block certain things that brake some apps to maximize the ads being blocked in general. I have seen that it usually has new ad/malwaretisement domains blocked at least a few hours before everything else. So if you like going on the "dank" side of the web / you go on lesser known sites I would highly recommend using this filter. This filter could have you whitelisting a few domains if you use Facebook and apps associated with it like Instagram.
There is also the NextDNS's own filterlist. I would say it doesn't hurt keeping it on and it's pretty good but their update times being every few days compared to almost 3-6 hour cycles on the filters listed above it could miss the latest ad domains but other than that it's also a great default filter if you use the basic apps and sites that are well known.
This is from my personal testing so It isn't perfect in any way, I also passed on notracking another list that I'd say is pretty good. Reason being that it doesn't have many specialities and doesn't differentiate itself much. I hope to give a better idea of the filters and their differences in general.

I also use (only) OISD too and never look back.

Used to use oisd exclusively but now I'm testing lightswitch 05’s list as my only list which seems to be pretty good for my needs. I also used to use 1Hosts(Lite) as 1Hosts(Pro) can break apps/sites. Just fyi, the NextDNS list is mainly Steven Black's list
