Problems with the NextDNS App

I am using the Next DNS Windows app on Win 11. The app reports as enabled and is started but when I view the profile on the web it says that it's not using Next DNS at all and is instead using the ISP supplied one. I have spent hours on this and it is driving me nuts. It won't work on the router either, I tried adding the DNS servers for Next DNS into it and it threw a fit and killed the entire network. I have confirmed that the ISP does allow connection to Next DNS servers, this just confounds me
