Allow List never actually works

I am constantly having problems where a website gets blocked, I can see it being blocked in the log, I add it to the allow list and still get the same result. Recently I tried to access the mailchimp.com site and it was blocked. Saw it blocked in the log, added the root mailchimp.com to the allow list, still blocked. Had to bypass to a different DNS. What is the point of the allow list if it never actually works?

    You probably need to either clear your dns cache or wait a few minutes for the blocked result to time out,   They way to clear your dns cache depend on the operating system.    A simple way is to turn off the network connection then turn it back on.   There are other ways that are faster, but they’re different depending on the OS.
