NextDNS Block Bypass Method Fails in Private DNS Auto Mode

Title: NextDNS Block Bypass Method Fails in Private DNS Auto Mode

Description: When attempting to use the Block Bypass Method with NextDNS in the Private DNS Auto Mode, I encountered an issue where the bypass functionality failed to work as expected. Despite configuring the settings correctly, the system does not bypass blocked content as intended when the Private DNS is set to auto.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Set up NextDNS with Block Bypass Method enabled.

2. Switch the Private DNS to Auto mode.

3. Attempt to access blocked content.

Expected Result: The Block Bypass Method should successfully allow access to blocked content when Private DNS is set to Auto.

Actual Result: The Block Bypass Method fails to work, and access to blocked content remains restricted even when Private DNS is in Auto mode.

Device Information:

- Device: Redmi 7

- Android Version: Android 10

This issue significantly impacts the effectiveness of the NextDNS Block Bypass Method, especially for users who rely on the Private DNS Auto Mode for seamless and dynamic configuration.

I always thought the block bypass method was to stop anything from bypassing the blocking of NextDNS. So I would have expected the actual result you are seeing.

If you want private dns auto to bypass NextDNS blocking then switch off block bypass method.

Thank you both for your insights. I've conducted further testing, and it appears to be a specific issue with NextDNS, as OpenDNS functions as expected, successfully blocking content. This suggests a potential bug in NextDNS that needs attention, as the Block Bypass Method seems to behave differently compared to other DNS services. I'll be reaching out to NextDNS support to report this discrepancy and seek a resolution.

What are you trying to do here? Like RPM said, block bypass is to prevent the use of bypassing method. On the other hand, Private DNS Auto Mode doesn't really work for NextDNS since it merely try to send DoT query to the configured DNS IP and accept whatever cert it send back, however, that also means it's impossible for it to link to a particular NextDNS config since it doesn't pass your config ID.
