DOH on Router

Hi

I am keen to encrypt my DNS requests.
On my router, I can set DNS to be what is shown in my NextDNS admin panel.

BUT as far as I understand it, this is not encrypted DNS Requests/DOH.
Ideally I needed to enter something like this: https://dns.nextdns.io/?????

Can I do this on my router?  Obviously, routers only accept IP Addresses for DNS Servers.

If not, I know I can install ADGUARD onto a box & then point my router to this. Then ADGUARD can do https://dns.nextdns.io/?????

Hope this makes sense

Thanks

The DoH on router aspect depends heavily on the router that you have Keenetic routers have a dedicated NextDNS add-on while Asus routers have DoH and DoT support on most of the latest models.

If your router doesn't support it, you can use on device options as the simplest solution, if your DNS queries are encrypted on all your devices only guests would be using plain DNS.

If you have IOT devices though you could use a single board device with the required software to use as your DNS and you can have NextDNS as the upstream but I personally wouldn't add a layer of failure, so device based encryption or another solution but it depends on how much you're willing to tinker.
