Setup for OISD lovers.

A lot of people including myself love oisd, but there was a tiny problem for me, it didn't block some of the ads that I had come across. The ease of use was amazing but when I saw a few ads here and there. I wanted to use other filters and have been for a while.

I was using Adguard + Lightswitch05 for some time. Lightswitch started to block some email verification domains, they were not false positives, even the url is tracking.*domain*.com but it's an annoyance nonetheless to whitelist that site manually.

So now, hopefully my last setup.

oisd, notracking, Fanboys Annoyance

Why is this setup so great, notracking covers most of the sites that are not blocked by oisd, there are reasons not to block them such as it might break some sites but haven't had an issue yet myself.

Things like Google's built in ads and shopping works fine,  I haven't had the need to whitelist anything as it's pretty light and generally this seems to be a lot better for ease of use. They cover each other's backs and they are both updated quite quickly so maintenance is great.

Wanted to share my experience incase someone wanted to try it out. If you love oisd but think that it's letting through some ads, this setup with notracking nearly blocks everything without causing headaches.

Fanboys Annoyance I keep enabled on no matter the filter as it blocks some GDPR and Cookie warnings, not all but I mean the less stuff I have to deal with on websites the better.

I would also advise anyone that doesn't use Facebook to block graph.facebook.com as it's a source of advertising inside mobile apps. Although blocking it brakes the main Facebook app, using Facebook Light or Alternatives should be good.

How long did you use the combination with notracking list?

"graph.facebook[.]com": why not just use Anti-Facebook and/ or Facebook block with child protection feature?

DynamicNotSlow For a few days close to a week now, going onto random sites with fresh Ad Providers for testing and generally using it, haven't had a false positive but I usually use the same apps. The blocking has gotten better though, some video ads on an app that I'd have to manually block by the denylist are blocked by notracking.

It seems to be following AdGuard, it's a theory but their blocking seems to be spot on for new sites so logically I think they are a more lenient / less aggressive version of Adguard DNS filter. That's why I really like it currently, it blocks a lot that isn't blocked by OISD and brakes little to nothing on my end. They are also a little faster at getting the new domains blocked. Mostly NRD takes care of it anyways but just a thought if you don't use it.

For why purely the graph domain, that's the one used to initialize ads, my parents still use Facebook so blocking it entirely would hurt their experience. By purely blocking the graph domain, you can use an alternative client or lite version of Facebook and still block their ads.
