Does Next DNS block in app trackers like duckduckgo's new beta app tracker blocker?

Yea after trying out they're new feature for awhile I started missing the way next dns kept ads out of apps I used but I can only use one of the services due to android only allowing one vpn network at a time. So my question is does nextdns block all the same trackers? Is there a certain Blocklist or way to setup that it will? TIA.

    Suppose il just have to switch between the two for now, atleast until I get my dns configuration working the way I need. At the moment on the FB app if I go to look at comments it says I'm offline so must have to many block lists 😅

      Michael John Doe that happens when you're using a strict blocklist, I'd say just enable OISD and enjoy life, it's the filer that gives the best of all worlds, 99% functionality with 99% reduction in Ads/Tracking, they do allow some tracking and ads, but that also helps with functionality, things like email verification link trackers etc.

      Hey, use HaGeZi - Multi PRO++. I use both HaGeZi - Multi PRO++ and OISD and few others. After taking a look at analytics i found out that HaGeZi - Multi PRO++ blocked 742% more trackers and ads than OISD without breaking anything.

    I don't know how exactly their tracker blocker is but if it does domain blocking it's identical to NextDNS if it does HTTP/S filtering that'd be more like Adguards full application.

    For most of the known trackers using NextDNS is more than enough. For some apps that use the same domain for both content and also ads/tracking a local blocker can fare better but it would depend heavily on how it's done.

    For me personally I wouldn't bother with an app, since you always have to to care of it, making sure it's updated, that it didn't crash and is running well, while also not using a VPN.

    I use Android and Private DNS and for iOS there is the Configuration Profiles, I would go that route as NextDNS takes care of all the annoying aspects while us the users enjoy a better internet, for me that was the reason behind me ditching anything local.

    Next DNS works good on my Android phone and it's compatible with most VPN I use Proton VPN and in my Android phone I set the code 311a59.dns.nextdns.io this works really well. With Next DNS and Proton VPN my IP address is hidden and I have a Adblocker.

       by default VPNs overrides your OS (Android, windows, etc) DNS settings. For using VPN with your custom DNS you have to configure it in the VPN's settings. Additionally, currently only few VPN'S support it and it buggy sometimes.

      If you have configured your VPN to use custom DNS then great 👍, if not 😥 then go check out some videos on how to set it up properly.

    Any DNS including NextDns only know what domains are you visiting and can only block access to the whole domain (www.google.com, drive.google.com, www.twitter.com) at once and can't block individual connections with the domain. So if "www.google.com" can be accessed then "www.google.com/ads_and_trackers" can also be accessed.

    But in case of Duckduckgo's app tracker blocker, it acts as a VPN (it only acts like a VPN to be able to see all the connections made by the device but doesn't work/functions like a VPN) to see all the connections made by the device and block or allow them individually. The disadvantage here is that it can look to each and every connection you make and does only work on individual phones.

     DNS on the other hand can work network wide by setting it up on your Wi-Fi router, that means it can also work for your thermostat or your 'modern' refrigerator sending telemetry about you.

    You could try No Track Tracker Blocklists. Gò to Privacy/Blocklists and search for it.

    I use it and its updated daily. But I use along with other Nextdns Blocklists. Never see any Ads since.

    DuckDuckGo's App tracker blocker worked really good on one android I had. 

    Apps you download in the playstore steal information about you. If a game is free that is because they are collecting your info and selling it.

    DuckDuckGos app tracker blocker would show me what information each app was collecting. Information like hair color, fingerprints, DNA, name, adress. I wad surprised that these apps were taking that info, sometimes over a hundred pieces of information requested. All information entered into any app in your phone, or on a website, can be stolen by other apps.

    That is what I want again. But DuckDuckGo's app tracker blocker uses a VPN connection.

    Is there another app tracker blocker that does NOT use a VPN connection like duckduckgo does?

    If I download a game in the playstore, will a VPN block the app trackers and stop them from stealing my personal information from other apps?

      If I use a VPN installed on my router, would that allow my to use DuckDuckGO's App Tracker Blocker on my android's VPN connection????
