AdGuard Pro and NextDNS DoQ

Does anyone has again an issue with NextDNS DoQ and AG Pro setup? It used to work but I get the unvalid upstream error message again. Thanks

    Try without «:853»

There are no problems withNextDNS, DoH, DoT and DoQ all works fine.

Your ISP might be blocking some ports.

In AdGuard for Android you can add multiple DNS lines, I have all 3 protocols.

losnad as mentioned everything was working fine before. I tried all type of format with no success.

FYI my ISP doesn't block anything here.

Also, all the other protocols are already there and you can choose them with no problem. However the strange thing is when you try to save them again you will get that pop message.

We can’t reproduce your issue. Does adding a quic server work with other provider in this app?

NextDNS Hum... If you are using AdGuard Pro 4.4.4 (965) you should be able to reproduce it. It happens on all my iPhone and iPad.

However I found a workaround yesterday, but I can't explain why it is working.

If you delete AdGuard VPN connection in iOS settings, which will disable AG DNS, and setup NextDNS in AG application, it will work. Also, I realized after a while, that some third parties DNS have also that issue like ControlD but some not like Rethink DNS. I just can't explain why.

So if anyone is facing this issue, this is the solution while AdGuard dev solve this problem that I reported to their support.

      Thanks.

Pierre Cartier Are you trying to use two VPN apps concurrently on your iPhone & iPad? Not sure how the VPN implementation works on iOS but on Android, AdGuard creates a local VPN (unless you opt for the local proxy filtering method) and the OS prevents you from having active concurrent VPNs, you can only use NextDNS's Android VPN app or AdGuard's Android (local) VPN app. Usually if you're trying to use AdGuard but with your custom NextDNS configuration endpoint(s) (or any other customized 3rd party DNS provider configuration endpoint(s)) then you have to manually setup your NextDNS (or 3rd party DNS provider) configuration endpoint(s) as a custom DNS server within AdGuard's "DNS Filtering" section within their app.

Greg B. Thanks for the feedback but iOS doesn't work like that. Also, as mentioned in my post above I found now a workaround.

Also, I saw that there was the same issue mentioned on Github a year ago. A bug that has been solved but it seems it came back with AG latest release. Anyway AG team is now aware of it so hopefully they should fix it soon.
