Xiaomi data
Hello, I am new here and maybe the question have been asked already (could'nt find on the search). I am not exactly certain of this all work but it looks great as far as I am understanding it.
I just wanted to ask, I have a Xiaomi and with the latest report on the company I want to protect myself more. I just wanted to know, if someone can explain or send me a link, if NextDns prevent personal data to be sent to Xiaomi. Also, does it prevent me to have their android updates or not? I am not certain if I am just hiding or they just believe that I am someone else. (basically also, for the price and built Xiaomi are pretty interesting, does NextDns -and with all the set up on my phone- allow me to have a more secure phone?)
It has probably been explain somewhere but I couldnt find it.
Thanks and have a good day all,

DNS can’t protect you in such a thread model. Xiaomi can request the data over IP or just use own DNS in background.
but security wise yes you’re more secured.

Thank you for your answer, so ultimately, if I understand your answer, eventhough I turn off all the private data sharing thingy on my phone , it wont change it. I would be more secure on a non "xiaomi" phone.

Fair enough, I havea Xiaomi but with the Micrsoft set up (for my home page and all).

Someone in the family has a Poco F3 and the phone does hit many servers but mostly for ads, you can block nearly all the domain lookup requests through NextDNS but there is one domain that's used for Locate My Device function so that's the only problematic domain as it could hinder you from finding your device if you block it. (NextDNS's default and OISD don't block this by default)
For personal data, as DynamicNotSlow stated they can bypass DNS all together but doing your best is the only solution so I block nearly all the domains that the phone hits about 5-7 different domains a day and only allow one Incase it's lost. It might not solve everything but it blocks ads and also increases your privacy to an extent, always better to have it.
