Setting up on Eero router

First of all, I can follow step by step instructions (ie, go to this page click on that, etc) but you'll lose me with complex instructions (ie, configure your such and such on the dohickey)

Okay, I have several questions while trying to set up NextDNS on my eero router

1) When I go to the setup page on NextDNS it says ipv6 isn't available, but on my eero app, I see a place to enter ivp6 information. If I enter it there though, it doesn't work so I also enter the ipv4 info.

2)I got it setup, but it looks like only the laptops in the house are being logged and not the (i)phones. Maybe I don't understand how this works? I thought the way it functions is Device->Router->ISP->NextDNS->websites->NextDNS->Router->Device? So all the devices will have the router ip address since it is going to NextDNS from the router. But if all the info is going from the router to NextDNS, why would it matter what type of device/OS is on the other side of the router? (yes, i did make sure the phones were using wifi and not cellular data)

3) I've read the documents about labeling all your devices and whatnot, but they seem like instructions for someone who knows what "prepending the name to the provided DoT hostname" means and how to do it, because that's the extent of the actual instructions. If anyone has experience explaining it to me like I'm a 5 year old, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Also, All I REALLY want is the functionality that all routers seemed to have built in 20 years ago.  I should be able to go to a log or history and find a timed log of every device/ip that accessed my network and what they accessed. Why is it so hard to find one that does that now? It seems like I have to subscribe to  $100/year service to get that information that used to be free. If anyone has a simple and cheap solution to my problem I'll go for that instead of trying to figure NextDNS out. I have Tmobile internet modem/router (and their app is garbage, can't even access/change ipv4 info on it, much less a log) and I hooked up an eero to it to use as the wifi router instead, but that just wants me to subscribe to their service. Anyway, rant over, Thanks again.

On iPhones make sure Private Relay is disabled, it would ignore router DNS setting. For Apple devices, just use the NextDNS Apple Configurator, enter your device name there then download and install the configuration profile.

If you want other devices to also log their name, you need to either install NextDNS CLI on your router, or use DoH/DoT on those devices directly.

Most of my family has iphones, not sure which models, 8, 13 and a couple inbetween.

We don't have icloud+, so as far as i know, we don't have private relay, so I can't turn it off.

On your profile dashboard, open the iOS tab and just follow the instructions.
