Located in SF- DNS is routed through Chicago

    Hi there Steve. Diagnostic doesn’t show any sign of routing through/to Chicago. What indication are you seeing that the DNS is routing to Chicago and was it happening at the time of the diag test?

      Sorry, should have made that clear from the outset. dnsleaktest.com was showing Anexia through Chicago. I ran the diagnostic trace <5min afterwards. Just re-ran dnsleaktest and now showing Elk Grove, CA.

      ping.nextdns.io results attached which might seem to indicate sfo/sjc not being utilized

      Seems like it’s ok for the moment. Just keep an eye on it for a while and if it returns please post here with a diag hopefully showing the problem. 
      NextDNS staff should be able to help within a few days or less.

      P.S. I’m just another NextDNS user, not staff or anything, trying to help out others.

    This is probably due to the system resolver you are using. Please run the same diag with nextdns disabled, it should show the bad routing. I would suggest to change your system resolver to something different that or even to the NextDNS DNS IPs listed in your setup tab, it should fix the issue.

    As the Firewalla's only alternative resolver is Unbound ) which currently doesn't allow customization, ie. upstream DOH). I set the DNS IPs to those recommended for a linked-ip configuration.

    On a lark, I decided to activate DOH afterwards. Surprisingly the Firewalla picked up the closest NextDNS resolvers. Don't know what to say about that, but thanks for your suggestions.
