It cuts off the internet :(

Just subscribed, trying to get away from all the ads on my phone on both apps and websites, on both WiFi and mobile data but turning on Nxtdns just cuts off the internet altogether. Used the free service before and it worked fine. Did i set it up wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Using an S22 ultra if that matters.

If you've set it up through the Private DNS option it should be something like xxxxxx.dns.nextdns.io with your config ID as the x's. That should work and if it's giving the Private DNS Cannot be reached error it could be that a VPN etc is interfering or that DoT is blocked by your ISP and if that's the case you can use the NextDNS app as it uses DoH.

Hey I was using the private DNS option, done everything right but it just wasnt working. Got the app and still nothing until I switched on the WiFi. It works but only with the WiFi on. Any way I can have it working using my mobile data?

      thanks!

Madalin g Could it be that your government/ISP blocks alternative DNS services? What happen when you try other DoT providers?

Madalin g Could you try and see if it works through Cloudflare WARP or any other VPN, this would at least show if it's an issue with your ISP blocking it or not.

Martheen don't think it's the government or the network provider. I'm in UK with EE network

Madalin g If private DNS still fails to connect with the VPN that'd likely be a device based issue, for example my work WiFi was blocking any Private DNS's more of less to stop anyone from trying to visit something they shouldn't. But using a decent VPN would remove that limit.

So if it doesn't work with a VPN could be a software implementation issue with that device.

Hey Well, with nordvpn on and private DNS on I get internet to the browser(Google Chrome) but not to the apps(fotmob for example)

Madalin g That could be an issue with your filters then as otherwise Private DNS would simply say "Private DNS Couldn't connect" and you wouldn't be able to do any DNS resolution. I'd say try HaGeZi Pro or OISD (Only one of those at a time) to see if it works.

Madalin g openvpn CloudConnexa is not VPN, its kind of Cloud network routing. Technically is a tunneling network, but you can do anymore.
