I found a way to block YouTube ads using NextDNS that works.

You did not have to block the subdomains of “googlevideo.com” but “youtube.com” directly once the video you want to watch is playing.

It consists of, once the video is loaded, temporarily blocking the domain “youtube.com”, in this way the ads do not load, while the video loads without any problem.

You can fast forward and rewind the video without any problems, ads will not be played.

The only problem is that you would have to do this for each video, but the important thing is that it works.

    I think there are some blocklists for youtube ads that would be useful to still have in NextDNS anyways. It also seems to be impossible to block page ads in the mobile app, however you can block some of their domains using denylist or blocklists so that if they are accidentially opened you don't end up visiting sketchy websites.
