We are only adding blocklists related to privacy, and our TI feeds include only source feeds. Hagezi TIF is an aggregation list that contains most of the same feeds as our TI feeds.

There are over 30 lists plus unique entries that Hagezi TIF uses that your TI feeds do not use. At least, that's what we can compare before your made your sources private.

please reconsider and reply to the many who’ve asked for this?

How much more or less it includes is really immaterial to the fact that your customers want it and your competitors already offer it.  NOT  adding this would really be an improvement forced error on your part.

Also could you please remove all the abandoned lists no longer maintained?  It’s just clutter, and gives users the impression that NextDNS is asleep at the wheel.

Could you please reconsider? NextDNS's internal threat intelligence feature lacks transparency and can lead to false positives, frustrating users, especially those managing multiple accounts. HaGeZi's well-maintained and reliable threat intelligence feeds are openly available and actively supported on GitHub. This switch would enhance user experience and security, making NextDNS a better product almost autonomously.

I never get false positives from their TIF, been using them for 2 years? I understand being ablE to customize but I don’t know why this is such a frustrating thing for people.

So the threat intelligence feeds are mainly for blocking known malware sites and such?  I'm not as interested in ad/tracker blocking as I am blocking malicious websites.

exactly, hence the clear separation in our product between security and privacy.

Thanks.  I'll turn off HaGeZi and OISD.  I think all OISD is adding is ad blocking and tracker blockers, but I'm not as concerned about those as malicious websites (malware, phishing, etc.).

It would be fantastic if HaGeZi's full TIF could be included as a separate list, especially since Ultimate does not include the full TIF anymore.

Yes The list should be added in the threat intelligence or in the given lists for user

Second this. Please add HAGEZI TIF as separate list.

HaGeZi.  this person is amazing thanks for  all you do, but should we still be thinking about lists in 2024?  AI or other machine learning tools  should protect us for most of the options in NEXTDNS/other providers in real time into the next decade

I totally agree, HaGeZi's TIF would be the best feature NextDNS could have right now.

Adding to this - disappointing that after so many requests that NextDNS are being so stubborn and not answering continued questions around the current lists (many of which are outdated)

ControlD are snapping at your heels to poach customers; this is a reason I found ControlD and I'm currently trialling it. It seems a bizarre move not to allow one more list, especially when there's not much transparency about what's actually going on behind the scenes of the options on the Security tab.

I get the separation between Security & Privacy tabs; but struggle to see why adding an extra section to the Security tab allowing this list would be as insurmountable as you seem to be claiming?

Or even just add a simple toggle to use the TIF list and mark it as a community list as with the other lists.

    Thanks!

We’ve already responded multiple times. Our TI is based on many of the same sources as HaGeZi’s, along with some internal ones. I’m not sure what has led people to believe that it is either outdated or less efficient than HaGeZi, but our own tests don’t support that conclusion.

Appreciate the fast reply. I think looking at the Github and the community that isn't really the general perception on this. Perhaps part of the challenge is:
      1) We don't have a real way to measure/know whats in the native TI as it's just a toggle

      2) As noted before the most recent data suggested that there were over 30 additional sources missing, but not really sure how to know 4 months on.

It would be really great to see a blog post on this as folks seem antsy about it.

As I say, competitors are doing this and I found out about one of them because of researching this specific issue. I think those with a more security focus prefer to be able to have a bit more flexibility, as with privacy.

Really just my 2c, love the product, but would like to see more granular data around security - seeing is believing, after all!

Side note, having a box to check (search) a domain against your security lists would have been super useful in a recent phishing scare with a family member. Different ask though.

I've noticed that several blocklists in the Privacy tab haven't been updated in over a year and are no longer maintained. It might be worth considering a review of these lists, as newer and actively maintained lists likely cover the same domains. Some housekeeping in this area could help keep the service more efficient and up-to-date.

How can we trust your words when it's not open-source (which doesn't really make sense), and the Privacy tab is full of outdated and some non-functional filters? Besides that, I actually get better blocking with HaGeZi's TIF on ControlD than with NextDNS's own TIF. There's a reason people want this so badly as an extra option, and I don't understand the stubbornness.
