Private DNS Android not connect on plus.net UK

Every time I connect to my home wifi on plus.net my Android devices using Private DNS ie DoT cannot connect to the internet and I have to disable nextdns in settings (Android 12, Pixel 5, Android 10 Tab S7), connect to the wifi, wait a moment, then re-enable nextdns.

 

I've contacted my isp about this but they say it's a nextdns issue as they don't block any dns functions. There's nothing in my nextdns logs concerning this connection issue. Is there something I can do to allow it to work as my previous isp never had this issue?

     I get a similar sort of issue using ProtonVPN on Android, when I add the PrivateDNS I get a message that the WiFi connection does not have internet access because the PrivateDNS can not be accessed. But I do still have Internet access and  NextDNS reports that the device is connected

    To Test I turn Mobile data off and do still have internet access.

    If I disable Private DNS Android reports that Wifi is connected. This seems to ne something that NextDNS is causing or blocking
