NextDNS on MacOS stops working regularly

I am using the current NextDNS app from the Mac App Store version 1.4.3 (19)

From one day to the other the name resolution stops working until I disable and enable NextDNS again.

Is there anything I can troubleshoot?

Calvin Hobbes CLI you mean manually configuring the DNS settings?

Mike Brust no, I mean remove the Mac app and use this https://github.com/nextdns/nextdns/wiki

Mike Brust yay!   I keep a terminal window open and if something isn’t working because of a block, I quickly use

      sudo nextdns deactivate

(There’s a few *nix tricks to avoid having to enter a password every time)

After finishing whatever, then use the same command with  “activate” to reactivate it.  I made 1 line shell scripts so I don’t have to type the whole command every time.  If you’re not familiar with command lines, this might be more trouble than it’s worth.

I only make additions to my allow list when there’s repeat offenders, otherwise I think it’s easier to deactivate/reactivate.   I also use some of the more aggressive block lists because of the ease of using the commands.   This is a personal preference…others think it’s cumbersome.  Over time, as I’ve added repeat offenders to the allow list, it’s becoming rare to do the deactivate/reactivate routine.

      glad it worked for you
