Inline comment syntax for nextdns.conf

Is there an officially supported inline comment syntax for nextdns.conf? I've noticed if I try making my own lines beginning with

that the lines are removed from the configuration the next time I restart the NextDNS daemon.

They should only be removed when you use the “nextdns config” command to edit it.

Could the daemon be updated to not remove comment line files when the runtime config is modified and written to disk?
