Search bar to allow/block entire apps and their associated backend domains
Hi NextDNS Team,
Currently, the Parental Control tab allows us to block specific apps/services with a single toggle, which automatically covers all underlying backend domains and CDNs. However, this list is limited to predefined services.
On the other hand, managing unlisted apps via the Deny / Allow list requires finding and adding dozens of backend domains manually. This often leads to broken functionality or missed tracking/ad domains.
*Proposed Feature*:
App Search Bar: A search bar in the dashboard (in Parental Control or a dedicated App Management section) to look up any application.
One-Click Allow / Deny: Selecting an app automatically adds all its associated backend domains, APIs, and CDN endpoints to the respective Deny or Allow list.
Dynamic Database: Community-driven or automated database mapping apps to their domain footprints.
*Why this is useful*:
Saves Time: Eliminates the need to inspect DNS logs to identify which domains belong to a specific app.
Granular Control: Lets users easily whitelist work-critical apps or block distracting/unwanted apps not currently present in the Parental Control presets.
Better UX: Makes NextDNS far more accessible to non-technical users.
Thanks for considering this!
