NextDNS Free usage.

"NextDNS can be used for free up to 300,000 queries each month, after which all features will be disabled temporarily until next month."

I've been using NextDNS for the past month, but I've noticed my query count keeps going up even though it's been more than a month since I started using it. I remember the free tier allows for up to 300,000 queries each month, after which features are disabled until the next month.

Could anyone help me understand why my query count is still climbing? Just want to make sure I'm staying within the limits and figure out what's going on.

Thanks a bunch!

Not sure, but maybe they’re using calendar month which would reset your query count on the first day of the month

I started using NextDNS on February 18th, which marked the beginning of the query count. Now, on March 22nd, it's still counting. I'm starting to have reservations about NextDNS support, as it seems to be nonexistent and reliant solely on community guesswork. This is making me hesitant about purchasing the plan.

What number are you looking at? (i.e. where’s the number from?)

If from analytics then number increasing is expected. If it’s from the account section and did not reset on the 1st of the month, then it’s something that @NextDNS should be looking at.

Just curious, how many queries are you averaging per day?

like I mentioned before, it probably reset on the first of the month.  Did you look at the count then?

as far as support is concerned, they seem to focus on issues that can’t be otherwise handled by the community or have already been answered many times in the past.

I’ve been a user since the beginning and believe the service is rock solid and the developers take care of the most critical issues.

There are some “nice to have” feature requests that haven’t been addressed, but the core functionality is solid.

Also, the price is very reasonable.   A paid subscription and support are not linked.  I’m sure you noticed you needed to make a separate account for the community support site.  They really don’t have a way to track which community support members have paid or free subscriptions.

if you’re undecided, go with a monthly plan and see how it works for you.   Or stay with the free plan if your usage is low enough.

The queries, in the account section.   It was less than 200,000 after 4 weeks but its still climbing.
I will keep an eye on it and see how things turn out.

Ive been monitoring the count almost daily.  The numbers have been consistent from the first day.  I will keep an eye on the numbers.  Hopefully it will reset on April 1st or before the 300,000 limit.

I’ve calculated that you need to be averaging less than 9.5k queries per day, to stay within the free quota per month.

Are you just looking for free service? Get yourself a nice rethinkdns assignment, just don’t bug people to get your free service over here NEXTDNS is worth the payment or move to other services like adguarddns or controlf

Fascinating perspective!  It looks like the only person to be "bugged" is you! Do enlighten me further on why you believe it's acceptable to dismiss genuine inquiries with such disdain. Perhaps there's a hidden gem of wisdom in your words that my feeble mind has yet to grasp. Or maybe, just maybe, a modicum of respect and helpfulness wouldn't go amiss.

bugs me too.   The free tier is intended to let you check out the service without any commitment.  If free does what you need, good for you.

This was my perspective when using NextDNS for the first time. I came to the Help Center, announced my concerns, and learned from the input. For most, that's the end of the story. Regardless, I now have the yearly plan.

Exactly!  I intended for my reply to be addressed for @jeronimo but accidentally addressed it to you.   I’m not sure how to properly include another username in a reply
