UDP traffic using ISP provided Calix GigaSpire GS 4220E
Thanks to help on the forum I was able to get my family's NextDNS working overseas.
I got home back in US and immediately tried to get it running over the weekend.
In the portal it shows all is good! but when i run test.nextdns.io, traffic is passing using UDP instead of what I saw overseas with nextDNS as OK with DoT or DoH depending on what device.
I ran a search and reviewed many posts containing "UDP" but did not get resolution so hoping someone can help me out. Unfortunately Calix does not appear on the openWRT list.
The router itself is getting DNS from the ARRIS modem by the ISP if I understand which is indeed google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. However, My DHCP scope DNS is the nextDNS IPs. I can't seem to find a way to edit the IPs in the Calix GigaSpire..
Shouldn't it be showing DoT or DoH?
"status": "ok",
"protocol": "UDP",
"profile": "xxxxx",
"client": "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx",
"srcIP": "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx",
"destIP": "45.90.28.200",
"anycast": true,
"server": "vultr-sea-1",
"clientName": "unknown"
}
I'm renting the router..i should just replace it, but haven't had time to deal with this kind of stuff except when i was stuck overseas at family's =P

UDP is expected when using the nextDNS IP numbers on the router. DoH/DoT would require either a compatible router or clients on every device.
