Pro Vs Bussines

The company I work for, has only 10 employees, can I use the pro license? or do I need to buy the license for Bussines? I just want to control the websites they access and avoid viruses. I already have a firewall, but the price of a license for web filtering is very expensive.

A small note: You should not only rely on DNS blocking to avoid viruses, security is also a mindset (and thus requires people to change their behavior), services like NextDNS are not a solve-all (something that AV providers claim to be but they are not), alot of malware spreading domains will be blocked but it's obviously a possibility that Person A could create a new domain spreading something and since it takes time for the public to find out, etc etc, you know the gist.

User Thanks for the info! I have bitfender antivirus license for bussines, DNS would be another layer to join with the other defenses.

Felipe Vicentini Do be careful with the paid AV's, AV's cause often more trouble than solving imo,

I mean after all realize it is CLOSED SOURCE software with HIGH PERMISSION LEVEL running consistently in the background.

However I do not know if there are any paid AV's which are open source.

ClamAV is the only known FOSS AV that can be installed on Windows/MacOS/Linux

If your company uses Android phones as work phones (and you've provided work phones for your workers), however I can recommend Hypatia, currently the only known FOSS threat/malware scanner on Android, it is developed by the team behind DivestOS (Soft fork from LineageOS which includes security patches from others like GrapheneOS, primarily targeted for non-Pixel devices)

And it can be downloaded through an F-Droid client (You will need to add their repository manually)

Note that Windows Defender is not the inferior tool it was deemed before, there are several hardening guides online which allow you to configure it securely, this saves you the costly paid AV subscription prices, as Defender is deemed much stronger as of recent year.

Felipe Vicentini you shouldn’t set your trust on broken AV software. Use enterprise protection like Microsoft provide over their Azure. Also use best practice stuff like SRP, Polices, …

To add to what @User has said, you should probably enable NRD (Blocks New Domains for 30 days) and enable AI-threat detection etc. It won't be completely foolproof but as long as they are being careful it should work just fine. I can't comment on Pro/Business that's for NextDNS to respond but wanted to add this to Users pints.

**Just do not enable NRD if the sector of your company is related to webhosting or domains (which would then literally block you from working with these domains)

But that choice is up to you.

Looks like a "No" to me:

    • "Pro: For personal and close family use"
    • "Business: For small and medium businesses."

You're probably better off asking them directly via sales@nextdns.io.

ClamAV is trash and was never designed for more than email scanning.

if Android is required, stock ROM should be used without allowed any external sources. No nonsense AV is needed as it doesn’t have the required permission anyway. Lineage and other Custom ROMs are a lot behind security and privacy. Pixel Phones are the best for both in Android area.
F-Droid is just a joke and creates even more problems
