NextDNS DoH on Android 13

LazJedi LazJedi if you’re running Brave you could run doh3 specifically within the browser. I think most of the browsers themselves support it on Android anyways. It’s not system wide sure but it’s closer than nothing if you at least want the benefit of http/3 somewhere.

NDH Technically it's not part of the core OS, but an APEX module distributed through Google Play system update, so *if* Google ever decides to fix it, it would be available on Android 11 and above.

I don't see why Google would bother though, currently with broken Cloudflare support it means Google gets as much data as possible without repercussion, it's not like people would be "oh noes, no native DoH3, welp guess I'm moving to iOS"

NDH Google is an advertising company, why would they make it seamless to block ads?

LazJedi The built-in DoH servers in Windows 10 & 11 are Cloudflare, Quad9, and Google, no adblocking DNS included. I was replying to Google adding NextDNS to the server list, which is not going to happen.

It would be exceedingly easy to just put a straightforward DoH textbox instead of weird hardcoding with DoT domain to then pick from the associated DoH3 address, but that's what Google does. It's not about the valid excuse, it's the fact their well-paid Android system devs spent that much time to do a half-baked error-prone implementation just to say "oh yes, Android totally supports DoH3, it's a modern OS". Were they not worried about antitrust suits, they would not even bother to add Cloudflare as an option.
