wpad.local resolved domain

Started to use NextDNS recently,
At the analytics of NextDNS at the Resolved Domains I’ve noticed the highest number is wpad.local
From a quick search online I understand but not sure that’s a proxy default setting in windows that must be manually disabled (please correct me if I’m wrong)
And if I disabled it why does the number keep getting bigger? What else could it be?
