Setup Help: Not blocking sites
Hello;
I am configuring NextDNS for the first time via my cable co. router to cover the entire network. I am on a Macbook Pro connected to the same network as the router and anytime I try to test the sites/domains I have blocked I am still able to load the site.
I have tried to clear DNS cache on my Macbook, restarted the machine, and I have restarted the router.
iCloud Private Relay is also off/disabled on my MacBook.
When I navigate to https://test.nextdns.io/ I am getting in response:
{
"status": "ok",
"protocol": "UDP",
"client": "68.194.17.112",
"srcIP": "68.194.17.112",
"destIP": "45.90.28.47",
"anycast": true,
"server": "vultr-ewr-1",
"clientName": "unknown"
}
What could I possibly not be understanding here? Why would this not work?

Something is not configured right. You are connected to the NextDNS but without your profile.
This is how test.nextdns.io answer should look:
"status": "ok",
"protocol": "DOH3",
"profile": "something",
"client": "154.47.24.154",
"srcIP": "154.47.24.154",
"destIP": "188.172.219.167",
"anycast": false,
"server": "anexia-ams-1",
"clientName": "unknown-doh3",
"deviceName": "xxxxx",
"deviceID": "xxxxxx"
}If you set up the router just with the IPv4 ip it needs to be linked. This should be the last resort option.
Read the instructions and the Knowledge Base.

I do appreciate the response and I have read the instructions and the Knowledge Base repeatedly.
I am using the ipv4 and Linked IP method:
I have created a Profile for my cable router, entered/saved the DNS servers IP's from the profile into the DNS Management of my router admin and I have linked the IP address in the Linked IP section. I have the green check mark in the Profile page for Linked IP. However I still see the orange circle in the profile and this message:
This device is using NextDNS with no profile.
Make sure to use the DNS Servers shown in the Linked IP section below (DNS Servers change between profiles).
There are no other settings I could possibly change/edit as I have successfully completed all of the ipv4 steps?

How can these two be true at the same time?
1. „I have the green check mark in the Profile page for Linked IP.”
2. „I still see the orange circle in the profile”
If the IP changed and you didn't set up DDNS you need to link the IP again every time it changes.

My IP does not frequently change.

@r_p_m I do not know if my ISP is using CGNAT. My provider is Altice/Optimum.
I am 110% certain that the profile I have for my ISP Router and the DNS IP's in the Setup/Profile are entered and saved correctly in the DNS Management section of my router admin panel. 110% sure.
