Problems in combination with OpenVPN

Hi,

The company I work for uses OpenVPN, some of the database servers I need to connect to are only available via the VPN. Since a while, I have some trouble with DNS for servers in the VPN. When I connect to the VPN, everything still works fine. Except that some applications cannot resolve the address of the database server. I can resolve it by doing a nslookup at the terminal. But the IntelliJ application that I use to work with that database, does not resolve it. I work around that by using the IP address as hostname in IntelliJ. But the server is running somewhere in the cloud and gets a new IP address every time I reconnect to the VPN. So that means I have to manually resolve the IP address and change the settings every time, which is very annoying.

I don't know where to start digging. Does someone have an idea? Let me know if you need more details.
