NextDNS on Ubuntu with pfSense host overrides

Hello; I have installed the NectDNS CLI on ubuntu container and i have my DHCP clients via pfsense set to this ubuntu IP.  DNS works but I have host overrides in pfsense (local entries) - How can I resolve those while going though nextdns on a separate ubuntu device?

I’m not sure, without looking into the system setup I can’t really guess why. The main thing is it’s working!

just some background in this that perhaps to can help provide your guidance. I currently have nextdns cli install directly on the pfsense router and that’s listening on port 53. As per some guidelines I had found when I first set this up oh pfsense via the cli was to change the built in unbound to something other than 53 which is why I picked 5553.

So that I am uninstalling the cli from pfsense and have setup an external Ubuntu with cli, would I need to change that pfsense port back to 53? And run the uninstall? I also had to change the network adaptors for All to Localhost. Would I need to change that back to all as well?

Well, I would think that any changes you made while installing the CLI, you should change back to previous settings if it’s going to be uninstalled.
