DOH3 on iOS - What Gives?
So I’m having endless trouble setting up DOH3 through the config profile method. You know:
Get the profile (unedited or with bootstrapped ip)
change the dns server to doh3.dns.nextdns.io
install
have http/3 enabled in safari (ios 16.3.1) or it’s on by default in other ios versions
Yesterday I had it working on the premise that it’d say DOH3 on the test page for a while up until I lock my phone. If locked for longer than 10 minutes, it’d disable. It’d enable if I killed the internet (airplane mode and disconnecting wifi/turning on a vpn connection) but ultimately it’s a time matter.
Today it won’t connect. Flat out. I tried bootstrapping my IP to v4 only and rn i’m trying v6. It’s always saying DOH on the test page regardless of what I do on a profile after changing it to DOH3. I have http/3 enabled and still nothing. I don’t know why it just “feels” like working sometimes and then not.
When is NextDNS going to just allow us to install these profiles by default? When will it work more consistently? Is the DOH3 server down? There’s an absurdly small group of people who want DOH3 considering it’s the newest yet easiest thing to install - so why is it unwanted by the NextDNS devs?
