  • We do not have anycast server in Israel, only ultra low compatible client will let you get local servers from there. You can use one of our clients or DoH/DoT clients with no bootstrap to get ultralow working.

From your diag, you are using a DoT client already with 4ms latency. It’s hard to do better :)

NextDNS Replying here to ask how something like the following happens. I see this very often that the slower ones are chosen, even with ultralow.

    • Chris this is normal, internet performance fluctuates and routing is never perfect all the time. 35ms is still very good and should not make any difference in performance.

NextDNS ok so why I'm getting 305 ms pings to 40.90.30.123 and 70+ ms to 49.90.28.132 ?? why you can put my instance always connected to a server in Tel Aviv?? I don't need all routing and steering im not traveling every day around the world! just put my nextdns instance always get connected to a server in Tel Aviv and that's it!

    • Yair because you are pinging anycast IPs. If you are not using our client or a DoH/DoT client, please switch to such client and you will get low latency.

NextDNS I'm running Asus merlin and the router is configured to use only DOT so why do I still need to go thru all anycast servers why I just cannot get connected to a server in Tel Aviv and that's it? when I start using nextdns almost a year ago I always get connected to a server in Tel Aviv 5 6 months I noticed that I get connected to some server in Europe. so how I set up DOT so it always gets connected to a server in Tel Aviv? and I'm not going to install any CLI client because it hijacks the guest network and ignores the DNS server on a guest network the YazFi and CLI cannot work together on the same router also when YazFi and CLI installed on the same router there is no DHCP server on the guest network.

my guest network subnet is 172.18.10.0/24 and my lan is 172.20.10.0/24 your CLI client ignores the 172.18.10.0/24 subnet, clients cannot get connected on a guest network if the CLI client is installed and running!

NextDNS by the way I just run DNS leak test as you can see I'm connected to servers in Australia and Germany

    • Yair merlin by default uses stubby which requires bootstrap IPs. Those IPs are anycast IPs and thus won't let you benefit from ultralow. You can install on CLI (https://nextdns.io/cli) on merlin to get the best performance in your country.
