Lynda / LinkedIn videos blocked

I am trying to get the videos to play in the Lynda or LinkedIn portal.  I have access to this through my library, so the link is messy.

The page and everything loads, but the video never does.  All I get is a black screen for video.  The video never plays.

I have tried adding all the URLs, sent through the logs, added anything blocked, went through the code and blocked any new visible domains etc. but never could get it to play.

I had to turn NextDNS off and remove it from my router to make it work.  Not happy about that.

Has anyone figured out how to fix or whitelist this?
Also, NextDNS needs a simple OFF button in order to help users debug.

Do you have direct links to the impacted videos that don't require a login?

Thanks for replying Ruby Balloon .

I would assume this preview video would be served from the same CDN or whatever.

I've since turned my NextDNS off but can turn it on to test.

starfruitman I'm able to play this 3 minute video with no issue via Firefox for Android. For reference, I have all security options enabled but am only using the oisd blocklist

Thanks for checking Greg.  But yeah, unfortunately after being logged in to that library URL above, the video STILL won't play, although the rest of the page does.  Whitelisting a bunch of URLS from the code doesn't help.  Changing my blocklist to the one you are using didn't help either.

Some new features that I already suggested on that thread in the KB were:

    - Main ON OFF switch to the DNS without removing the entries from my router.  Just an on off button to debug or temporarily turn off.

    - How long do changes take to take effect?  3 secs?  5 min?  Some kind of UI feedback on NextDNS changes would be helpful.  A flush cache button would be nice too.  I am just not sure what is working and how to know as I'm trying to debug this problem.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to filter requests and debug this problem?  I had to switch back to OpenDNS this week in order to watch those videos since NextDNS didn't have an OFF button.

starfruitman There's currently no "off" button but when you use this particular library website, I would suggest using the Chrome browser, temporarily configure it to use secure dns and change the provider to "NextDNS" so it'll just use NextDNS as a standard dns resolver with no filtering. If you don't use Chrome to begin with then you can keep its secure DNS settings as is so Chrome will stay compatible with that particular library website whenever you decide to use it or if you generally use Chrome anyway then you can just disable it's secure dns option once you're done with the site and temporarily re-enable the option as needed.

Otherwise you would have to debug by checking your live query logs when you access that site. For further reference, I cannot reproduce this using the direct lynda/video link on Firefox for Android with Private DNS set to my NextDNS DoT endpoint

OK thanks.  I'll try this and report back.  If I get something to whitelist that works, I'll post it here to help others that run into this issue.

Regarding no OFF switch.  OpenDNS has this already, it's just not a user feature.  All the features turn-off after 300k queries on the free plan, but the DNS still works and passes everything through.
